Yessie Citron

Background

Yessie was born into a military family.  Her father was stationed at the New Orleans Naval Air Base when she was born and they moved around a great deal after that.  It was evident when Yessie was growing up that she was not quite the same as other children her age.  She developed extreme photophobia (light sensitivity) early, making school
difficult as the only little girl allowed to wear sunglasses at all times.  Add to that the constant moving around and it is not hard to imagine that Yessie did not have many friends.  Introverted and quiet, she spent much of her childhood locked up in her room.  At the age of 7, Yessie became separated from her mother in a department store.
Alone and scared, she grew frantic when she suddenly imagined that someone was coming to take her away, to hurt and murder her.  The brutal images of violent murder caused the 7 year old to scream in the middle of the kitchenware department.  She was quickly taken to the office by employees where she was re-united with her mother.
Unbeknownst to anyone, a predator had been lurking in the store and was intent upon kidnapping little Yessie… right up until she screamed.  Yessie’s visions of ill intention became stronger as she grew older.  Throughout her life, armed with her unique ability, she was able to foil potential muggers, scam artists and general malcontents from doing her any harm.

Life in Erie

Yessie’s mother and father both succumb to illnesses within a year of one another, leaving her alone… truly alone.  She had no friends, no extended family and very little in the way of money.  One day, she decided arbitrarily to take a recreational boat tour off the coast of South Carolina.  She could never be sure of what made her decide to take the trip, but the tour was quickly cut short by an impending storm.  On the way back to the mainland, chaos suddenly broke out on the boat.  Yessie could not understand the panic and whilst trying to determine the source of the commotion, she was struck on the head and collapsed on the deck.  Yessie woke up in Erie, penniless and frightened.  Quickly realizing that Erie Isle was not just an ordinary place, she felt that she may be able to use the supernatural elements of this place to hone her skills.   However, her arrival in Erie did not go unnoticed.

After several weeks of experiencing lost time, she was taken by Collin Andel, dismembered and her human life was ended.  Collin performed a ritual to turn Yessie into a Shadow Demon.  Returning to Erie from the depths of Hell with a much changed personality and a glamour to disguise her true form, she eagerly awaited the development of her enhanced telepathic abilities.  But while she fell into her role as a human with a day job, she nurtured the emotions she felt for those around her, effectively lending power to her human half.  Letting her human side take over has now doomed Yessie's soul to an after life in purgatory.  However, because of the emotions she felt for those she cared about most, she made the decision easily.

After those tumultuous first few weeks in Erie, Yessie settled into a dispatching job at the Erie Isle Sheriff’s Department.  Having quickly climbed the ranks, she is currently the Lieutenant and battered by a case load only Erie can supply.
