Erie Isle Homeless / New Resident Support Group

"Honey, you come right in, you look soaked through." The voice is kindly, even if the person using it is no more than a blur of pale colors backlit by the hotel lights behind her to your stinging, rain-bleary eyes. The door is open, and the warmth that comes from the open door is as comforting as the promise of a place to dry off. A place to rest.

It takes a minute or two for your eyes to adjust. The hotel itself is still gracious, a stately old dowager of a place that still has it's touches of turn-of-the-century style. Two iron fireplaces. A curving spiral staircase. Iron balustrades on the verandas. Parquet floors. Yet there's something worn about it too. Places where the wallpaper has faded from the sun, and spots here and there where it looked as if heavy, rust-colored drops still stained the floor. Still, it's cold and wet as hell out there, and in here the fires are crackling cheerfully. There's something cooking, and it smells savory and familiar.

Signs are everywhere, but there, right by your hand is a small printed leaflet that looked as if it'd been made hastily and folded by hand. As you open it there's a hint of old, school mimeograph ink smell and then your attention's taken by the words:

"The Homeless/New Resident Support Group isn't a faction. We are here for you. We exist to help you settle in as a new citizen of Erie, help you learn the things you need to learn, and maybe make a few friends. We will give you a place to be, and a group to be a part of while you are examining the factions and deciding which one best suits your character and it's aims in Erie. Most of all though, we're here to help you have *fun*.

Membership is for thirty days. At the end of that time, and certainly, we hope, a lot sooner, you will find a group you're happy with. If you have a giving spirit, volunteering to help the other newcomers to Erie is a wonderful way to 'pay forward' what you've learned with us. In a real way, you the player are part of the unfolding story of Erie. We all hope that you find happiness and satisfaction in the process from the very beginning."
