Once a scientist, now a blood necromancer, following her brush with the vampire god Cain, Adred has arrived in Erie to examine the new powers bestowed upon her.

Adred was a black cat once, now joined in body and mind with her owner. Shy, geeky and serious, she was once emotionally remote until a coven helped her discover her heart - but curiosity about magick and the lure of dark strength has led her down a shadowy path she is reluctant to turn from.

Invoking Cain led to a tragedy that destroyed her ability to draw on her magickal resources, bringing her dangerously under the powerful Cain's sway until the vampire god's lust for blood led her to bite the wrong person entirely.

An infuriated Baaz collared her and took her to her Coven family for an exorcism. He fought them when they tried to remove her from his care, but when finally he did take off the collar at their request, she asked for it back then followed him to Erie to hone her new skills as a necromancer under his care and the protection of a new family, the Dreadshift.

Cain's exorcism left a lonely void in her soul that she can only fill with the voices of the spirits invoked by the blood she drinks, making the scent of the life-force irresistable. To prevent her from attacking people when she smells it, she carries coroner's mint salve and also syringes.
