Erie Isle Wiki: Ways to Start Roleplay
Ways to Start Roleplaying in Erie:
ADDITIONAL THINGS TO DO
• Join the Non-Factional Groups or a Faction There are also optional factional and non-factional groups to join, the information for which can be found in the OOC area in the sim Entranceway or in the Roleplayers Resource Center.
• Decide Who Your Character Is
This doesn’t have to be a final decision right now, but it’s a good idea to come up with a rough sketch based on the island’s background. Are you a new resident? An old-timer? Try to come up with a basic background for yourself early in the game and then flesh it out later. And then based on that definition, select the appropriate race in RPCS. The best way to get started is to think in terms of answering some basic questions about your character:
1) Who are you?
2) If you came here from somewhere else, why?
3) What does your character need or want? What kind of goals do you have?
4) Are you generally good? Evil?
There is additional Character Development and specific race information available in the Roleplayers Resource Center which can help you in creating your character here in Erie.
• Meet People and Get Roleplaying You want to create is a role that will bring you into contact with others and give you a chance to get to know the members of the different groups. Don’t wait for people to come up to you and start talking - decide who your character is and act appropriately.
• Find an Occupation or Role on the Island Another great way to get started with roleplay on the isle is to pick one of a number of jobs which are available and use those as a means to get to know other characters.
Some possible ideas to consider for characters include:
• Reporters for the newspaper (we need actual people to write and submit stories... roleplay being a reporter. Contact Yannena Homewood)
• Paranormal investigators (ghost hunter?)
• Start out as a "victim" ... get haunted by a ghost, hunted by something that likes to eat people, attacked, whatever. To encourage this to happen, simply wear an "Erie Isle Victim" tag.
• Bartenders (this is a great way to get to know people in the sim)
• Dancers
• Waiter/waitress
• Medics/doctors (all of the groups need medics, but so does the sim as a whole. Roleplay as a doctor or medic, with the hospital as your base of operation)
• Medium or fortune teller (plenty of need for this in a town filled with ghosts)
• Prostitute (obvious enough... but you could also put a twist on it. What if you are the ghost of a murdered prostitute?)
• A native… you’ve been away from the island, but have a history there
• A smuggler (Erie Isle is always teetering on the edge of disaster, with shortages of all kind of supplies. Roleplaying a smuggler, you can get hooked in with the black market and help keep the different factions alive)
• A thief or bandit (again, a great way to meet people, though not necessarily friendly ones. Maybe you've been a pickpocket for 20 years, you're down and out on your luck and end up here)
• A vampire/werewolf/etc (turned into a werewolf last week? Maybe you're a little worried people will know and try to kill you. Keeping your identity as a were secret might be central to your roleplay on the island)
• Former cop/military/mercenary (former military? maybe you're looking to hire yourself out as muscle for one of the factions) • A Supernatural Being drawn to the island's spiritual energy (What are you here to do?)
• An Entreprenuer (working in one of the many shops or even the Black Market) • A drug dealer (plenty for folks to escape from in Erie)
• An Actor/Actress (sign up with the Phantom Theatre Company by contacting Journey Maertens)
• A public service professional (Fire Department contact Aircom Graves, Sheriff's office contact Choi Zhangsun)
