Erie Isle Wiki: Vehicle Rules
VEHICLES IN ERIE ISLE
Permissible/Allowed Vehicles:
Motorcycles
Bicycles
Skateboards
Rollerblades/skates
Iceskates
Horses
Boats (rowboats, sailboats, etc).
Any vehicle must be 30 prims or UNDER; vehicles over that prim limit will be returned to you. Vehicles cannot be rezzed while the Erie Isle landowners group [Highview Landowners] is active. Vehicles must be ridden with wheels touching the ground. GM staff reserves the right to ask you to put away any vehicle determined to be not consistent with the sim's time and technology level.
Vehicles NOT Permitted:
Cars/Trucks
Freebie Bikes
Hovering or Flying vehicles of any kind
3- or 4-wheelers
Tanks
ATVs
Animals (other than horses) -- unless there is specific approval on these. To request approval because it fits a specific RP purpose, contact a GM.
Vehicles already rezzed on sim:
There are several vehicles that are part of the makeup of the daily life of Erie too:
- a Muircastle Corporation helicopter
- an ambulance/medic response vehicle
- a fire engine
- a fishing boat
These vehicles are set with permissions to allow anyone to drive them - HOWEVER, YOU MUST HAVE A VALID RP REASON FOR USING THEM! Some examples include:
- using the ambulance to respond to a disaster or using the firetruck to respond to a fire
(there is a volunteer fire department that is assigned to use these) - stealing one of the vehicles for a specific RP purpose
- flying the helicopter to quickly get from one side of the island to another on urgent business
Basically, anything that would *reasonably* fit into a RP scenario. Using them "for fun," "to practice flying," "to give my friends a ride" are not acceptable reasons.
Permissible vehicles are not to be ridden inside of buildings nor used to run into other avatars. If you find yourself in a building, stand up and pick up your vehicle. Don't fight to get out of the building as you'll only cause more collisions. Your speed should be no faster than what you can navigate safely.
Vehicles CANNOT be used during combat ever. Period.
Both the ambulance and the fire engine are to be driven on the ground ONLY, and all attempts should be made for them to drive on the streets, unless they are responding to an event where there is no street. Vehicles should only be driven where they could reasonably go in real life.
GMs reserve the right to ask for specific vehicles to be removed In general, we're flexible about this. However, if, for example, you're riding a horse which is extremely laggy,or a badly scripted bike, we'll ask that it be removed.
Additionally, under high lag / high traffic conditions we may ask that _everybody_ refrain from riding vehicles.
