Visitor from the Future?

 

 

An alleged visitor from the future, Jessica Susser, arrived in the science lab in Erie South.  Members of AI and Brigade were there to handle the situation.  It is unclear but believed AI had been on the scene prior to the arrival and may have activated some machinery that acted as a portal.

In a separate but related event, it appears that Twilight and Dread were in the process of opening such a portal but were interrupted by the Trust.  Perhaps the two groups thought to take advantage of the weak barrier to the future and find power advantageous to them.  The Trust may have also been after the same thing but did not seem to cooperate with the others.  A portal was created and a small band from each group left into it.

 

Ritual in the Gardens

The following was witnessed in the gardens in Port Erie: a strange ritual performed on DJ of the Brigade. Soon after the ritual, she and her husband Rev disappeared.

Rock hard Politics: No Stonewalling here

[10:53] Jortek Juran look curious at the rock on the bar tapping on it

[11:23] Aleksei Cortez: How many rocks have you stomped over in your lifetime? You're probably guilty of rock genocide. But you don't see me going around flashin' a piece over it.
[11:24] .. The rock's moss is turning brown where the booze poured over it. It is now sitting in a pool of cheap rock gutt whiskey.

[11:49] Aleksei Cortez: Like any good public servant, by promulgating the laws that man sees fit to pass to govern himself and his brother with equity and mercy.

[11:56] Aleksei Cortez frowns, hesitating at that. He didn't like devils deals. "A small favor, and not one that violates my conscience. Remember, you're getting the rock too...."

[11:57] Baaz Serpente: Just how deep does your conscience go ? I've not seen many that wouldnt stab thier friend to make a deal in this place

Curfew? On Saturdaynight August 29th, just after 9pm .. which according to new regulations was the time the curfew set in .. several citizens of Erie decides to protest against this stoopid bullshit new law by partying outside on the Fairgrounds.

Council Announces Erie Powers Protection Act

Today Councilman Majestek Magic and Counclwoman Illeanna Kira announced the Erie Powers Protection Act, claiming the recent increase in crime needed drastic measures. They also named Aircom Graves as the point person for the Sheriff's Office in the implementation of this bill, which includes the following:

1) The Sheriff's Office will strictly enforce the curfew. All individuals found in violation will be stopped, interviewed, and given strict written warnings. Repeat offenders may face additional warnings, fines and the possibility of an adjudicatory hearing to determine additional penalties such as community service or, in extreme cases, jail time.

2) The Sheriff's Office will make full use of the search-and-seizure provision of the law, after an investigation has yielded probable cause and sufficient evidence to support a finding of criminal behavior. All asset-forfeiture sales will occur with a public notice and in consultation with the Mayor's Office

3) Registration will occur in accordance with the law. At this time voluntary registration is available through sheriff's deputies. No extra-human abilities have yet been reported to the Sheriff's Office. Complaints will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

4) The Sheriff's Office and an engineering consultant will be evaluating suitable structures on the island for use as an appropriate jail. The Sheriff's Office welcomes public comment on this issue, and would prefer to use property voluntarily submitted for the purpose prior to an actual seizure.

5) Special task forces will be created on a case-by-case basis to enforce the Erie Protection Act as well as other applicable regulations. However, the need is most dire for firefighters, EMTs and hospital staff, as well as for law enforcement personnel. Those interested in volunteering should submit a statement of interest (NC) to Aircom Graves stating their experience and preferred position.

The announcment was met with a great deal of public outcry and at the conclusion of the announcement, Air invited any individuals wishing to discuss the recent Council regulations, volunteer to assist with public services, or voice their concerns on any topic with the Sheriff's Office to a discussion in Club Restricted.

Despite widespread public outcry, no citizens, public officials or leaders who excoriated the Erie Powers Protection Act took advantage of an opportunity to coordinate a community-oriented response to the legislation this evening. Nor did the public call for volunteers yield more than one lone, brave soul, and Doc Ran and Journey waiting in vain for hospital volunteers.
Air stated that he was committed to providing more opportunities for dialogue in the future.

It's getting worse. A few of my fellow trustees tried to...er "convince a member of the Twilight to have tea" with us. We tried to "escort" her back to the mansion, but she em...got loose...uhhm...declined our invitation...and i got kicked in the stomach. Which lead to a violent fit of vomiting...geez louise...right in front of everyone. Seems like this is gonna get worse before it gets any better.

I've got a hundred degree fever and all my joints hurt and my left arm hurts like a bitch....and i've got a strange craving for cat food. And, if you will allow me to speak frankly:

It is CERTAINLY NOT policing the city from the comforts of one's BEDROOM...

while the screams of citizens victimized by vermin, madmen, and monsters go unheard below. No doubt, drowned out by the lusty moans of a Sheriff that spends more time 'in the saddle' than on the job...

But enough of that...

Our Movement is the product of an inexperienced, but exceedingly brave and honest group of individuals. In the absense of almost any functioning city services, we have stepped up to say, as residents of Erie Isle, WE DESERVE BETTER THAN THIS!

What have we gotten for our troubles? We have been gunned down in cold blood, unarmed, during a peaceful assembly, along with neutral onlookers. Our members have been the target of political assassination attempts by sniper fire. We have been maligned and slandered. And so we must ask the question ... Why?

What is all the fuss about? Surely a small number of activists don't warrant such attention? What do our well-armed, violently hostile, politically entrenched opponents have to fear? I'll tell you what. The truth.

The truth is, Erie is festering from resentment and mistrust born of segregation and intolerance. Are some 'monsters' violent and angry? Probably. And I would be too: Confined to the smallest, poorest, and worst plots of land on the island. It is like the barrios and bantustans, ghettos and reservations across the globe. Have these constructions ever effectively REDUCED violence?

No. Deep in your heart, I know you know that. In fact these structures ENCOURAGE, and almost GUARANTEE violence. The violence of the opressor maintaining the arrangement, and of the oppressed periodically rising up.

Can we do better?

Yes. We can do better. But, to make way for progress, two things are necessary. And these two things are why we are here tonight.

We cannot have Freedom of movement, unless we have law enforcement that actually works to secure the safety of its citizens. Safety not on the basis of species, or what faction one belongs to, but on the basis of actions detrimental to the greater good of all, and nothing else. To my knowledge there was only one Deputy acting according to this ideal. Deputy Raam is hard working, aggressive, and fair to the best of his ability. He was, not surprisingly, fired by Sheriff Choi last Thursday.

What is left is a department almost completely infiltrated by one group, to which the Sheriff also belongs, essentially granting them complete immunity, no matter how extreme their behavior.

Others may not look monstrous in the blue zone, but they can and do.

Others may be arrested for crimes as simple as indecent exposure, but when THEY mortally wound unarmed civilians at a peaceful rally, there isn't even a returned phone call, let alone an investigation.

Others may lie dying, in need of services, but not their own, they always treat their own.

So our first demand is quite simply, IMPEACH SHERIFF CHOI. I spoke to the Honorable Lamia yesterday. The paperwork has already been filed yesterday at noon. I am looking forward to hearing back from the court clerk regarding this matter. Hopefully there can be a free and fair election process to replace her.

Which brings me to our second demand. I am happy to announce, this one is already coming true. We filed petitions to election officials on Thursday. We demanded new, free, and fair elections for City Council.

I was informed that we HAVE met the requirements. Therefore, I am pleased to announce, new Erie Isle City Council Elections WILL BE HELD, September 13 and 14th!

The nomination process officially kicks off today and will run until Aug 29th. Any citizen may nominate any other, or themselves ((except GMs)), and a total of three candidates will be selected by popular vote on the aforementioned dates.

I would like to close by officially announcing my candidacy.

I have been completely upfront about what I am for from the very beginning. This may mean you don't agree with me, or my organization. But, you will always know where I stand. I will also discuss with anyone any differeneces of opinion, and strive for points of agreement.

We in the Movement want what is best for Erie, and, if you are here tonight, I am sure, that is what YOU want as well. On September 14, the people will decide, and I trust we will choose freedom and equality, over sectarianism and violence. I look forward to a fairer, freer, and better Erie Isle. thank you for coming out tonight.

Strange Happenings in the Slums[07.24.09]

A hidden camera captured the strange goings-on outside the Spitted Mermaid this evening which could best be described as a Monsters Ball. No humans were seen as various creatures and beings danced throughout the night.

There was also a ghastly assortment of "snacks" ranging from blood-laced punch to a carcass of a deer thrown in the corner and eaten by certain guests. Shivers in horror were for free.

same large wolf attacked the Assistant to the Mayor, Lamia Abaza, who was saved not by the Brigade—allegedly out patrolling the city they claim would fall into chaos without them—but by a private citizen.

Both sustained serious injury but arerecovering. Unfortunately the wolf is still at large. Due to the reported size of the wolf, it is suspected this is a lycan—and a dangerous one having changed prior to the full moon. Erie citizens are warned to be on the look out for this predator.

SEER Brief - Van Reinard A Danger to Erie

Erie citizens should be on alert to act with caution when dealing with Mr. Van Reinard. Reports have been filtering in—around all the gossip about Darwin and the Mayor's "alleged" kidnapping—about the man's odd behavior. He was reportedly seen running through the forest near the Nomad camp on Sunday night, naked and growling at anyone in his way.

Another citizen called to say Reinard was seen breaking speed limits along the highway in South Erie, threatening to run over anything or anyone in his path. Repeated attempts by this reporter to contact Mr. Reinard have been returned with viable threats.

Having checked facts on lycan bites—and reviewing the medical reports on Mr. Reinard's wounds—it is this reporter's conjecture that everyone close to Reinard should prepare themselves for the worst, as lycan bites transfer characteristics to the intended victim. In other words—Van Reinard could become a werewolf—though he still denies their existence.

When the Mayor's office was contacted by this reporter—with the intention of warning her and her officials of the potential danger lurking inside of Reinard—the mayor herself responded with a verbal tirade that cannot be reprinted here.

May it be noted, that during the investigation into the Mayor's past, those close to her have insinuated that Reinard has a mysterious hold over our illustrious leader, which could explain why he was never charged for his part in the motorcycle incident injuring Minerva Breda. Is it possible that sophista Savira fears Reinard? And if his imminent change causes irreparable damage to Erie or her citizens—will the leash law apply to him? Or will he once again be allowed to run wild and do as he pleases?

 

SEER Brief - Mayor Returned by Mysterious Abductor

Mayor Sophista Savria was returned to the streets of Erie late Sunday, July 17th, apparently unharmed, after an end to her lengthy imprisonment was negotiated by newly appointed deputy mayor Lamia bint Belus Abaza. Sources close to the mayor state that the mayor was detained aboard what can only be described as a large airship supposedly belonging to Darwin - the masked madman responsible for the abduction of several other Erie citizens.

Upon her return, the mayor seemed tired but otherwise functional, quipping to Abaza that she had "never felt better."
