Sheriff Aircom Graves authorized the release of this report to the Seer Office. As a new reporter, I'm shocked and sickened by these findings. Please, do what you can to help solve this crime:
ERIE ISLE SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT
Incident Report: Recovery of John Doe, February 2, 2010
At approximately 6:30pm on Tuesday, February 2, Erie Isle Sheriff's Department personnel responded to South Erie in connection with a missing-persons report. A local citizen had complained to the Town Council that the smell from a local trash disposal bin had become "unbearable," not far from the last known location of missing Erie Isle SEER reporter Oliver Stormcrow.
Air and ground units responding to the location established a perimeter and located a decomposing body hidden within the trash bin. Personnel in hazardous materials suits observed and documented the scene. Bloody fingerprints and pools of blood were also located at the bottom of the trash bin. Personnel transported the John Doe to the morgue for analysis and identification.
~FINDINGS
The John Doe had been mutilated to remove the victim's head, hands and feet, making identification initially difficult. Blood tests and samples of body hair from the John Doe were compared against trace samples recovered from Stormcrow's desk at the Erie Isle SEER. Lab analysis is ongoing; however, personnel from the Office of the Medical Examiner strongly suspect, and the Sheriff's Department concurs, that the body is that of Oliver Stormcrow.
Forensic recovery of Stormcrow's email accounts indicated no activity since January 10th, and his colleagues at the SEER reported no contact with him after that date.
~KNOWN HISTORY~
Stormcrow disappeared under suspicious circumstances on January 10th. He had been intimately involved (and had briefed the Sheriff's Department) with an investigative reporting project that linked then-serving Erie Mayor Sophista Savira and her brother, Van Reinard, with a scheme to illegally contract out the island's real estate to Omnimax Corporation, who subsequently turned half the island into a prison colony. Savira and Reinard were ultimately exposed for their complicity in this activity, in which they framed the Erie Isle Town Council as having taken bribes from the corporation and forged documents indicating the Council's support. A reliable confidential informant notified the Sheriff's Department that during the latter half of January, Savira was seen in Erie's Club Restricted, pounding her fist on the bar and saying in an elevated voice to Reinard, "There! He's dead! Happy?!"
