Jenny Carlos Interview ~ DollAnne Diabolito ~ 02/10/2010
---------------------------
Gun maker Jenny Carlos is a woman who's name has become synonymous with some of the most excellent weaponry available anywhere. Ms. Carlos takes some time from her hectic schedule to sit down with Seer freelance reporter DollAnne Diabolito to discuss guns, running a business and the fact that size_does_ matter.
DD: Without putting you on the spot too much, why do you think Jenny Carlos weapons have such a great reputation?
JC: Well it wasn't always this way. I mean I use to be the runt. I worked for the Company for years and then one day was offered management, and then ended up buying the company. I've owned Carlos Inc, for about six years or so.
DD: Wow.
JC: We wanted to change things up and make our products as reliable as we could. The prices changed some yes, but after the customers saw the quality, they were willing to pay the difference.
DD: So you would say you really improved upon the quality of the weapons after you took over the company?
JC: Oh yes for sure!
DD: What got you interested in making weapons in the first place?
JC: Well I always liked shooting guns.. Was just something I just kind of liked I guess... But after working for the company for so long it just became "me". And I liked the interaction with the clientele and providing products that people are happy with.
DD: Do you find it makes a difference being a woman in a "man's" industry?

JC: Yeah I do get a lot of comments on that.. About how some are surprised I'm a woman when they meet me.. But I have a great team that works for me. So its not always fully my ideas or choices... We have a great team that knows what is best for the most part. I'm the final say of course (laughs).
DD: Do you have a favorite Jenny Carlos weapon?
JC: Umm I do have some favs. If I use a rifle I like our M95. If I use pistols I often use the AR4s or, at this time, I'm using a test set of Desert Eagles. For a machine gun I'd say I like the Uzis.
DD: The Uzis are my favs as well... Do you only manufacture guns? Or other weapons too?
JC: Well in the last year or so here we have started to work with swords some.. Not a lot but some. I like swords and we hope to release a few more models in the future.
DD: Well we'll all look forward to that. What would you say is the most destructive Jenny Carlos weapon? The most exotic?
JC: Hmm destructive lol... Well most of our weapons have been optimized for damage (she grins)... The Uzis you have spit out a lot of bullets so they are very popular for their damage.
DD: Yes the Uzis are an excellent choice for people like me who aren't very good at fighting, I just point and shoot and let the Uzis do the talking!
JC: Exotic hmm, probably the Eagles that I'm testing now.
DD: Tell us a bit about the new Eagles, I know they are eagerly anticipated...
JC: Well the eagles are based off a lot of the same technology as the AR4s. But they are very nice looking, with scopes and silencer options.
JC: There are some new bullet types as well.
DD: What are the new bullet types?
JC: We have finally made foam bullets, and I also took all the bullet types that people liked over the years and put those into these new ones.
DD: Does Jenny Carlos sponsor any shooting or combat events?
JC: We have in the past, but currently no.
DD: How do you come up with new ideas for weapons?
JC: Well in order to create a new product you have to decide a few things. Of course size...how it looks...and how comfortable it will be to use.
DD: Why do you adamantly refuse to do custom work?
JC: I just don't have time for it! We do take ideas that customers give us but for the most part its just not possible to mass produce products and also do custom jobs on the side.
DD: What do you like to do when you have spare time?
JC: Well in my spare time I like to do the same things most people do, hang with friends and dance and travel. In fact that's how I found Erie, I had a simple delivery that needed to be made here and we still had not setup shipping methods (to the Isle). So I came to bring the delivery myself and liked it here.
DD: What can we expect to see from Jenny Carlos weapons in the near future?
JC: Well Carlos Inc, Combat Weaponry is always improving our products so I'm sure you will see many updated products and on top of that like I said we have some new sword models we are messing around with and a couple more nice gun models as well which we hope to release very soon.
