Choi was always serious, even as a child. She grew up in a military family, very dedicated to school and her studies. She never made real friends, never played like a normal child, and when she graduated high school, it was only natural she join the Marines. She tested very high, making it out of boot camp with top honors. Only a few weeks into the latest war overseas, she was promoted to the head of her platoon. A week later, the entire platoon was captured by insurgents and imprisoned in a POW camp for six weeks, during which they were all routinely tortured. Choi was the only one to survive. She was finally rescued by a black ops team who had been sent in to extract them, but the escape was rough, and she was badly injured in an explosion, covered with burns over her entire back and arms.

While she was recovering, the military selected her for an experiment, and lobotomized her, removing the portion of the brain that controls fear. When fully recovered, instead of sending her home they sent her back into the field to lead a new team. They ran one successful mission after another, until finally they reached the one that might end the war altogether. However, recon showed the village they were sent to bomb was filled with women, children, and the elderly. Choi refused to "paint" it. Her men knocked her unconscious and did it anyway. When she awoke, Choi found herself in military prison, arrested for war crimes, and held responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocents. She had been framed once the military doctors deemed the experiment a failure. She failed because she still had a conscious.

She spent a month in military prison, while the press had a field day villifying her. When she discovered she would be put to death for her 'crime', she decided to escape, so while being transfered to the new facility, she overcame her guards, killing two of them, and made a mad dash away, rather easily evading capture thanks to her extensive training.

Eventually, broke and weary, she ended up on a freight boat, one of the last to be sent to Erie's harbor. There, soaked and freezing, she met Jonathon, who took her home to the firehouse, where together they ran the Brigade until he disappeared. Since then, she's lived many lives, as the leader of the Homeless, a vigilante, a lunatic bumblebee, and as the Sheriff.

Personality traits:

Choi is a obsessive-compulsive neat freak. She tries desperately not to show it too much, especially when she's covered in mud, blood, and whatever else, but she does give it away through little things.

Her fear center was completely removed, the only evidence being a small scar on her temple. Her lack of fear is compensated for in her brain by a severe temper and impulsiveness. Once she's rolling, she's hard to stop.

Choi has an extreme aversion to alcohol.  Her father was a severe alcoholic and she watched him sicken in his later years thanks to a diseased liver. She now preaches loudly against the evils of alcohol, and those who sell it. She's had the bar closed down m ore than once during her vendetta.

Choi hates showing emotion in public. There are only a select few she lets her guard down around to show her true feelings. If she's caught being anything other than stoic in front of strangers, she becomes highly embarrassed and is likely to leave, or get angry and start shooting.
